Dress To Impress

At Dragons Dream the challenge is Dress to Impress and you have to include a model Or dress, dry embossing and a bit of bling.

The background tag was embossed using a TH Texture Fades embossing folder - rays
Which I swished through squeezed lemonade, spiced marmalade and rusty hinge, which when the tag was dry I reused to enhance the colours. Around the edge I also used vintage photo distress ink.

The model was inked using the same inks before making a skirt and bikini top out of striped yellow ribbon and the tied with sparkly gold string. (Stephanie Emma at Crafty Boots might recognise the ribbon so thank you:))

The happy birthday was stamped and attached using gold brads for a bit more bling.

Thanks for the challenge Dragons Dream Team and your inspirational works of art.

Lillis Bird

Hels Sunday Stamper Challenge this week is to use a bird. So as I needed to do my Goddaughters Birthday card it was an ideal opportunity to use part of my caged bird die and a MDF heart I had previously painted pink for the young lady in question.
I used the following Distress inks - Seedless preserve, pickled raspberry and gathered twig, some blushing rose perfect pearls, inkadinkadoo swirl stamps, clear embossing powder and a touch of Tim Holtz ideaology.

Something New

At Crafty Boots Helen has set us the challenge New - So I decided to use a  stamp from my new set Enjoy Life from Indigo Blu, which contain a lovely set of different verses.

The gift tag with the verse is attached to a gift box that I covered and decorated for a friend to give a special gift to his new wife to be in.

The rose is made from card covered in metal tape and then inked with alcohol ink, the directions for making the rose itself were from the lovel Hels Sherridan and the metal look I learnt at one of Gabrielles Sunday classes so thank you to both you lovely ladies.

As you can see under neath the rose is a lovely heart shaped box which was also covered in the metal tape and faux rivetts created before being inked up.

The leaves were cut using my tattered leaves die and inked using shabby shutters and peeled paint distress ink before the friendship verse was stamped on top.

I hope you can join us this week and we look forward to seeing what you make using the theme New .

Alpha Challenge - Letter V

At the Craft Barn this year they are setting a challenge that will run throughout the year based on using a Dictionary and will cover all the letters of the alphabet.

As I have a pile of books ready to alter curtesy of Bev my lovely cousin I thought it was an ideal opportunity to put my crafty fingers to work today and through out the year. It will be interesting to see if my style changes as we go through.

This fortnight the challenge is the letter V and the word I have chosen is Venture - to have courage to do or undertake; run a risk; hazard; risk.
The challenge ends to day so I have squeezed in by the skin of my teeth and you will see the Glossy accents highlighting the word is still wet.

Its always a risk altering a book (as they are so precious especially old ones like this) so I thought it was quite apt for the first one of the year.

But I have also focused on the fact we should Venture out into the world to discover and explore new things.

I used the following to alter the pages :-
Distress Inks - Gathered twigs, Shabby Shutters, frayed burlap, tumpled glass and faded jeans.
Distress Stains  - Bundled sage
Stamps - Dark Room Door - Discover,
Indigo Blu - Grand Tour III.

I look forward to seeing what the next challenge is over the next couple of days hopefully I wont leave it until the last moment :0)

We Love Shoes

My lovely God daughter and cousin celebrated here 30th Birthday in December (my goodness it only seems like yesterday when we bathed her in the washing up bowl that very first christmas). Well she has grown up into a lovely lady who enjoys to party and dress up but always thinks of her friends and family.

I made a hanging plaque for her using a frame from an Art Part set mounted onto hardboard which had been covered in Kraft resist paper before being stained with aged mahogany.

I stamped swirls on the frame which were then embossed with black embossing powder.

The die cut model was swiped through a mixture of aged mahogany and brushed pewter distress stains to give a marble look. I attached vintage lace around the middle along with a strip of ribbon to make sure it stayed in place.

The words were stamped onto Kraft paper and lighly inked with yes aged mahogany and to tie it all together I attached a couple of brass sandals to the top using a pice of lace and a brad.

Around the model you will also see a heart necklace as I wanted to use the hanging not only as a card but as a way to present her gift.

I am entering this into the fashionable stamping Challenge #38 - Surprise Us.

Bon Jovi - Because We Can

At Crafty Boots Freya has challenged us to create something using black and bright colours so it is an ideal time to show you the tag I made for my daughters christmas present - a ticket to see Bon Jovi in their - Because We Can Tour this coming summer. If you are a Bon Jovi fan you will hopefully recognise the heart and wings as part of their trade mark.

The tag itself was covered using Black soot distress stain, once dry I swiped it with clear embossing ink and roughly covered it with black embossing powder before heating it. I did the same to the tips tips of the rusty wings.

When we were last at Ally Pally I bought some MDF shapes one happended to be heart which is exactly what the Bon jovi Tour tag called for, I painted it red before stamping the swirls, the letters were cut using my cricut and inked in mustard seed. It was all finished off with a chain and a couple of brads to give it that heavy metal look.

Have fun playing with your balck and bright colours.
