I decided to try and play about with some sunny colours and also a Tim Holtz technique using white paint and an embossing folder.
I painted the inside of one of my embossing folders with white acrylic paint before putting in the tag and running it through my cuttelbug. This meant that the raised areas had a light covering of paint. When dry I inked the tag with Distress Inks mustard seed, spiced marmalade and a smidging of walnut stain, the idea then was to try and wipe some of the ink of the top of the paint it didnt seem to work that well but I like the colours and the affect (the colours seem to be quite right in the photo but you get the gist)
The tattered floral flower was cut from card coloured with mustard seed and spiced maramalde before being stamped with script writing the leaves were coloured in shabby shutters and a tad of the spiced marmalade. The word spring was stamped on a scrap of the card.
The bronze metal plant label (specifically bought for my craft room not the garden this time ) was embossed using the same folder as the tag to tie it all in.
Cheap string was inked with the same colours and tied through the top.
I am entering this in the Stamp man Challenge - Colours of Spring - Spring is on the way - it must be I bought some seeds and have cleaned the greenhouse ready for planting :0).

Tag #26 Tea For Two
The crafty boots challenge this fortnight is Food Glorious Food and a bit like Gabrielle I only have a couple of stamps that really tie in with this theme. So out came the cup cake stamp set I have and the cup of tea from the front of a copy of Craft Stamper magazine ( don't you just love that magazine ).
On the back ground of the tag I used shabby shutters and spun sugar distress inks before covering in clear embossing powder and heating up. I then inked on Victorian velvet and walnut stain to ooze into the dips.
The cup cakes and tea cup were stamped onto cream card in the Victorian velvet before being painted with a variety of distress inks.
The naughty but very nice words were stamped in the victorian velvet on a piece of card that I had coloured when doing the tag and then grunged up a bit.
So there you go my favourite drink of the day with a lovely cup cake to boot.

Tag #25 - The Time Travellers Wife
I found a new Blog site this week called the Dragons Dream Tag It On so decided to have a go at thier challenge TIO#109 - The Time Traveller's Wife.
In my last blog I used some lining material to cover a tag so I decided to continue this theme. I used seedless preserve as the main colour on most of the embellishments, but before covering the tag I stamped script writing in walnut stain to reflect the story.
I stamped two hearts on cream card to reflect the love of the time traveller and his wife. The fob watch was stamped in gathered twig before being cut out and the word Travel was also stamped in the same colour.
The flower was cut from Tim Holtz craft resist paper before being inked.
Tied through the top was some vintage lace and a purple ribbon with a brass watch.
I loved making this tag as well as it meant I got to spend most of my Sunday inked up and happy in my room of craft.

Tag #24 A Stitch in Time
For the bubbly Hels Sheridans Sunday Stamper Challenge 193 - Stitch In Time I decided to have a go and use some scrap curtain lining material I had been saving for crafting. Using my tag die, model form die and the cotton reel die I cut both a material and matching card piece and stuck the respective pieces together.
I roughly inked the tag using broken china distress stain and for the dress form I used aged mahogany distress ink. I stamped some swirls on the body half and some swirls in gold on the tag and teh word time on the cotton reel.
To create the skirt I gathered up some gold ribbon before attaching round the body so indeed I used real stiching to create the skirt :0)
The tattered florals flower was cut from patterned papper before being inked in aged mahogany and then the edges touched up with white paint to define them.
Around the edge of the tag I drew faux stich marks in gold which you can only just see. I loved making this tag and trying something different. There are a few special birthdays and anniversaries coming up in March so it will be put to good use xx.

#Tag 23 - You Make My Heart Flutter
A special tag for the man that still makes my heart flutter even after 21 years of marriage :0)
The background has white paint dots which was then inked with faded jeans, and walnut stain distress inks. I also used heart masks from the cut out of the centre of the heart when inking the tag.
I used my Tim Holtz steam punk scientific symbol stamp and my PaperArtsy Love & Kisses stamp set using walnut stain for all the stamping.
The heart and wings are from my Tim Holtz heart wings die in craft resist paper which were then inked. The background of the heart was barn door but was given an extra shine by covering with glossy accent once mounted.
I attached some inked twine and another piece of chain to finish it all of.
Happy valentines everyone I hope you have a special someone in your heart.
I am entering this into a number of challenges this week including:-
Crafty Boots - Valentines Challenge
Grungy Monday - Valentines Day - Tim Holtz Style
Sunday Stamper - Week 192 - I will always Love you

18th Birthday Wishes
It was my lovely daughters 18th birthday last week and this was the card / hanging that I made her to celebrate our love for her.
I used a piece of mountboard 10x18cm, it had to be strong as the key on the front is wrought iron and extremely heavy.
I stamped the 18s in white paint, once dry I inked on spun sugar and seedless preserve distress inks ( I couldnt make it too pink as Amy has had an allergy towards pink until the last few years and even now it can only be taken in very small doses.)
The wreath, butterfly and crown are all cut using Tim Holtz dies and inked and stamped in the same two colours, the crown was also covered in glossy accents which made it curl a bit to give it even more depth.
To attach the key I made two holes at each point using my big bite so I could thread the Pandora ribbon through before tying. On the left hand bow I had tied a pandora charm with butterflies on to reflect the sentiment Let your Spirits fly, the charm is now safely on a rapidly filling pandora bracelet that she had when she was 16.
Nothing can express the love I have for my daughter or how proud we are on all her achievements so far and I am sure there are many more to come.
I am entering this in this weeks Simon Says Stamp & Show Anything goes challenge and the Stamp man Challenge textures as the key and the embellishements all have different textures.

Time to Dream
For Mr Ws Birthday I decided to make something he can hang in his computer space all year round rather than it going in the bin or hiding in a cupboard. So I created this hanging using some mountboard.
I used a combination of stamp sets but started by stamping the scientific symbols from the Tim Holtz Steampunk set in white acrylic paint before using a number of distress inks including mustard seed, tumbled glass, shabby shutters and gathered twigs. I used the a Paper Artsy hot picks set 1007 as well in each corner.
The cogs were cut using the Tim Holtz die gadget Gears before painting in crackled paint, weather wood and dusty concorde, once dry they were inked withe gather twigs and walnut stain.
The cogs were glued on and then large brads were inserted in the middle of each.
The words were from the Paper Artsy Hot picks Xtra 04 set . Using my electronic dymo I printed the words Time to dream, love you and happy birthday on white tape which I then inked.
The clock stamps were from my Stamping crafter magazine sometime last year and the chain to hang it with was from a bag of broken necklaces that I have a bag of but are just right to give that steampunk affect..

Tag # 22 - A Guy Thing
The Fashionable stamping Challenge this fortnight is Make it a Guy Thing so here is my tag especially for that. I am also going to enter it for the Stamp Man challenge embellish it as there are quite a few different elements included so just right right for that challenge too.
I took a plain white tag and used 2 different sized lids and stamped a number of circles in white acrylic paint. Once dry the tag was inked using tumbled glass and weathered wood distress ink.
I then stamped in the background the scientifc drawings from my Tim Holtz Steam Punk set in weathered wood and 2 of the 3 men from the same set.
The coloured cogs were cut from acetate using the Tim Holtz die Gadget gears before using alcohol inks to give them a mottled colour before mounting on the tag.
The tag was finished by adding some smaller sprocket gears from the Tim Holtz ideaology range a chain and some inked twine were tied through the top to finish off the effect before stamping congrastulations down the left hande side.
Hope you like it.
